I suppose you could also run six colors other than CMYKGR, but then you'd probably need a RIP to do so, because the Epson driver expects those colors. So I don't know whether there would be a big gloss differential or something. But all of the Epson red inks are "UltraChrome Hi-Gloss" variants, and although you can get CMYK in those, you can't get gray. If I were going that route, I'd probably extract CMYKG from something like 3800 or 3880-generation Epson cartridges and red from something like Epson R1900 cartridges.

It does not appear to me that either Cone or Precision Colors offers a 'turnkey' inkset for the XP-15000. On the other hand, whose pigment ink / what pigment ink? In part because the XP-15000 uses a unique combination of ink colors (CMYKGR), you may have to piece together an inkset. There are certainly people who report successfully using pigment inks in Epson printers that are designed for dye ink, like the XP-15000. If I can run pigment in the XP-15000, that will be good enough for me as a fine art printer. Our customers will be able to easily switch between using the Epson inks and our all black inks - making it a one printer does all!.And it is more ink efficient (with the RIP we tested) than the 1430 when used with all black inks (we produced that system, too!)

This little printer prints extremely sharp and opaque film when outfitted with all black inks. 1.5 picoliter! It is astonishing what six channels of all black ink can do when the droplet size is so small.
